Smolensk State University of Sports is part of the Russian Ministry of Sports ecosystem.
The university has a rich history, having celebrated its 95th anniversary last year. Over the years, it has trained over 25,000 specialists, including outstanding athletes, coaches, educators, scientists, and managers.
Among the graduates are three-time Olympic ice hockey champion Vladislav Tretyak, two-time Olympic fencing champion Sofia Pozdnyakova, Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Nikita Nagorny.
Students are regular participants in international competitions and all-Russian competitions. University football and hockey teams successfully perform in all-Russian student sports leagues (National Student Football League and Student Hockey League).
